Social Gaming – Not So Attractive

My friends and relatives have been going gaga about social networking. According to them, social networking web sites are the best place to have fun on the internet. Well, my definition of fun, as is evident from the description of the blog, is clearly related to video games. When I say this, my friends and relatives point out that there are various the games available on social networking web sites as well.
Well, no disrespect intended but, online scrabble can hardly be called a game. It is nothing more than an activity that stimulates the mind to identify words through jumbled set of letters. Where is the action? Where is the excitement? Where is the thrill of having achieved something after repeated tries?
It would have been worthwhile had the same board been played online again and again. However, the board changes every now and then and we have to start all over again no matter how hard we try. For some strange reason, I find it virtually impossible to enjoy such an experience. Social networking are useful to stay in touch with friends and relatives but I don’t look at it as an entertainment option alone.
I need something hardcore and something directly related to gaming to satisfy me. Another advantage that I have been pointed out is that the online gaming is a free. Well, free is a nice but what about the seriously amateurish standards of such games? I would rather pay money and enjoy quality entertainment than be satisfied with mediocre entertainment simply because it happens to be free.
